The history of the city starts with the Roman occupation in the first three centuries through to the Moors from the 8th to the 13th century and later the Italian and French influences in the 17th and 18th centuries. Barcelona is a big open air museum which can be enjoyed either on foot, bycycle or tourist bus,it exudes historic charm and mystery in abundance.
A stroll down the Ramblers to take in the many street artistes,musicians,human statues and flower sellers is ample entertainment on its own.No visit to the city would be complete without viewing one of Antonio Gaudi,s famous creations be it the "Sagradia Familia" or the other Gaudi buildings all masterpieces of this modernistic architect,considered by many to be the founder of the modern movement in Europe. Maybe a trip up Mont Juic,to visit the Spanish village,or the Olympic stadium and a must for most visitors would be to see the Magic fountains of Barcelona at night, built by Carlos Bruigas in 1929 for the universal exhibition. Reus Aiguesverds Golf Club

Founded in 1989 an undulating parkland course, set in olive and holm oaks, the course benefits from cleverly placed greens and the use of stragetic water hazards and bunkers designed to be no problem to the well struck shot, However the third hole does present the golfer of all standards with a test of nerve, the 127 mtr par 3 green is completley surrounded by water but a well struck 8 or 9 iron, will land the ball on the soft green, like a seagull with sore feet, and leave you, with the biggest smile of the day.

Golf Bonmont Teres Noves

Founded in 1983 This championship lay out was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr and is a great test of golf for all, the back nine is a test of nerve and endurance, but even if the golf leaves a lot to be desired just drink in the magnificent views of the mountains and the shimmering blue Medeteranean, who cares if the golf is not of championship standard playing golf in these surroundings makes every player feel like a champion. Some years ago the course was the venue for the Catalan open won by Paul Lawrie so what better company can one be in!

Founded in 1983 this traditional parkland course was designed origionally by Don Jose Ganceda as 9 holes and later extended to 18 holes, it has been built in a beautifull valley of olive, pine, willow and palm trees, and is a true test of golf especially, the 637 yard par 5 one of the longest holes in Spain which plays to a spectacular double tier green. Another golf course with fantastic views over the Mediterranean, a private members club which unfortunatley prohibits weekend visitors. A great golf course to unwind those shoulders and go for that long drive with your new driver!

| Panaramica Golf and Country Club

Founded in 1995 this parkland course, with the clever use of bunkers and water and designed by Bernhard Langer, this championship course is landscaped to a high standard, as you would expect from the drawing board of an ex Ryder cup player and captain, which puts it at the forefront, as one of Europes premier golf courses. It offers the more experienced golfer a chance to use all the clubs in his bag from the back tees, whilst still offering the weekend player a not too difficult challenge from the normal regular tees. This undulating, but reasonably flat golf course makes for a very pleasant and challenging day which will still leave you enough energy to enjoy your evening stroll. |
